Anyone give mylanta or maalox?

Just wondering if anyone gives their LO maalox or mylanta in addition to or in lieu of reflux meds? If so, what kind do you use?

I would discuss this with the pedi first.

I don't plan on giving DS anything without asking his pedi first. I'm asking out of curiosity because I remember hearing people talk about this when dd was an infant.

We were instructed to use maalox before we started Zantac. I noticed no difference in DS's discomfort.

I was told by our ped that we could give 1/4 t Maalox twice daily if lo is Uncomfortable. I think it does help but we rarely give it. His GI doc doesn't really like us to give it too often since it has aluminum in it.

It seems that reflux meds are preferred over these antacids according to my lo's docs.
