Using Listerine During Pregnancy

I am 7 weeks pregnant and have been using Listerine mouth wash on and off. I just noticed yesterday it had alcohol in it and am freaking out. I didn't swallow any, but I am worried it could hurt the baby. Has anyone asked their doctor about this?

I did have one doctor tell me to avoid mouthwash. He told me not to use mouthwash at all actually, pregnant or not. He was a very very very old doctor and I laughed when I left.

We're prone to more dental issues when pregnant. I would think it's important to stay on top of it. Don't drink it.

I remember it, too. I think it might have been my FIRST pregnancy - pre-BMB days when the tri boards were even crazier than they are now. 

I also have one that is around 4 1/2 so my guess is it was from way back then. The tri boards were a hot mess of bat shit crazy in those days.

Basically some girl got a little bit of feta under her fingernail and stuck her hand in her mouth on accident and freaked the fuck out about it. She wouldn't even listen when we told her most of the feta in USA is pasteurized. It was epic.

Lurker from October 2013. My dentist told me not to use mouthwash with alcohol (I wasn't pregnant at the time). This was specifically for me, though, not all people, due to my horrible chronic sinusitis (had surgery for it twice), chronic rhinitis, and allergies. It's too drying for all my ENT issues. I just buy listerine with no alcohol.

Your anecdote reminded me of that.

She had a posted a pic for Halloween dressed in a Chiquita banana girl costume while supposedly in some kind of medical emergency, if that helps ring any bells. If you were on The Bump then, you DEFINITELY have to remember that post lol.


I don't think I was on the bus but I love girls who clearly lie in here... It passes the time while I'm nursing my love in the middle of the night haha
