I am a 42 (43 on 7/28) and wanted to start a thread for us young ladies! I have 2 living children (ds 17 & dd 4). Between those two, I've had 3 Ectopic and 3 m/c, which makes this pregnancy #9 and hoping for a 3rd child (boy please!!)
Have you had any further testing done? Have you had the NT scan? Since my daughter was born, it seems they've come out with this new blood test to check for abnormalities. That is some amazing technology!!! Sounds so incredible to possibly not have CVS or an Amnio which has the risk of miscarriage along with it.
I am 46. 2nd marriage so baby later in life. I used donor eggs

I'm 40--will be 41 at delivery. Got married at 36 and it took almost 4 years and 8 rounds of IvF for these babies. I had two miscarriages back to back before this pregnancy. We used donor eggs for the last 4 rounds of IVF. Rough road to get here but worth every tear and injection to meet my girls in November.

Many congrats to all you ladies for your successful pregnancies!!
I'm on my 2nd marriage. After a few failed pregnancies (and IUI's), we pursued IVF treatment in 2008, and we were told we'd probably have to use donor eggs but we gave up on it. For us, it was going to cost about $15,000 (insurance didn't cover it) and we didn't want to risk that money for a 50-50 shot at success. My FSH numbers (67.0, 26.3, 15.7) were astronomical and they diagnosed me with Premature Ovarian Failure. So we just gave up on having a baby together. Then voila, a year later I was pregnant (and now again) with my own eggs. Boy, were they wrong!!
Motley-- you are super lucky that you conceived 2 times with those FSH numbers!!! I also have DOR/POF and only got 1-3 eggs for each of the 4 IVFs I did with my eggs. All mine were crap. I have a friend who has 2 kids from donor eggs in her late 30s after several failed IVFs. Then she had a surprise natural pg at 43 last summer!

I am 41, will be 42@EDD (knock wood). DH had a VR after 16 years Nov 12. Got married Feb 13, got BFP Mar 13. We had a loss at 17 weeks. Told could try again right away. Met with RE in Jan 14, who said fat and over 40, 2% chance of concieving and carrying to term. We did his lab work and DH started vitamins for repro health. Womens clinic offered Clomid and a referral to different RE, 2nd Clomid cycle, got BFP right before new RE appt. First appt at 8w3 did a lot, got u/s and expecting twins! :-) Now 10w4d. I am 42, will be 43 on the 8th. I have a 6 year old DD from my previous marriage, and I just celebrated my 1 year anniversary with my new husband. I had a m/c last August, so I am nervous and praying for this pregnancy to go smoothly, and we can meet our baby in January. I have my first u/s on the 8th (yes, my birthday!), and I am also excited about the new testing that they've come up with since I had DD.

Hi all! 41 and if EDD is correct will squeak this one out before I turn 42. LOL. second marriage for both my husband and I. Strangely, neither one of us had any kids in our starter marriages. We have a 3yo daughter. And had 2 MC this past year. I was done. Starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel with DD. And at peace with the idea of 1 kid. My husband was not. My primary suggested I go see a RE just to see what the problem might be. I agreed. 2nd round of clomid and here we are! I'm 8w3d and beyond thrilled. And nervous. We had an us at 6w and everything looked good. Got released from RE care. I see my OB next Friday, hoping for another us just to make sure we are on track. This is where we ran into problems before. Can't even let myself think too far ahead. Ie testing, gender etc. right now just want to STAY pregnant
HI, everyone! I don't get on this message board very often, but I'm 43 and will be 44 in September when my LO arrives. I had a miscarriage in 2010, and then quit trying because I did not want to have a baby this late in life. I'm so glad God had other plans. Surprise! I was in utter denial when I found out I was pregnant, but have been "jumping for joy" ever since.

After I found out about this pregnancy, I scoured the internet on what it means to be over 40 and pregnant. One of the things I read had said that women produce more FSH as they age which can over stimulate the ovaries. This is why twins are more common in women over 40 because they can produce more than one egg. That really resonated with me and I thought, "well, high FSH number must not mean a death sentence all the time". Now I hear of your friend in the same situation!! I do feel VERY lucky!! However, birth control is going to be a real conversation now!! We never talked about it because we thought 'why bother'!!

I just had my 8 week "official" appt. The baby looks great, with strong heartbeat!! YAY! The doctor also told me about this blood test and I think my head spun around! LOL They can even tell the sex of the baby!! My appt is at 11 weeks, where I will have the NT Scan and the MaterniT21 test. Crazy stuff, I tell ya!

"Starter marraige" - LOVE IT! I hear ya about taking one day at a time. I just had my 2nd u/s today and both showed a heartbeat, so luckily I can breathe a little now and looking to my next appt at 11w where I'll have some testing done. Mucho luck to you for a sticky pregnancy!!

Awww....CONGRATS!!! Do you know what you're having? And how have you been feeling?
Accept my apologies for the late replies. I had been out of town for the weekend. Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend and you're all doing well with your pregnancies!!!
Hi ladies!
I'm glad you started this conversation because I feel old on the 35+ board. I will be 40 in September and my little girl will be born in November.
I have had 3 chemical pregnancies (two from IVFs) one from an IUI. I spent a lot of time and money with the wrong doctor and thought we would never have a baby. My new doctor suggested embryo banking with genetic testing before an embryo transfer. After 3 more rounds of egg retrievals, we had two embryos that made it to biopsy and freeze. One of those was genetically healthy. We transferred her and now I'm 22 weeks pregnant.
We also did the mat21 testing which reconfirmed what we knew from our embryo testing, that we have a healthy girl. I am so thankful for all this technology. As hard as this struggle has been, I am thankful to be where we are now.

Welcome to the "Over 40" thread! I bet you feel REALLY old (I know I do) on the November 2014 board!? :P
What a journey you've had! I'm so glad you found a good doctor and have a success story!! Our newest technology is really quite something! Have you had your anatomy scan yet? Those are always fun, especially if they use 3D or 4D imaging!!
For the Mat21, did they also confirm that it was a girl? I asked the doc if they could tell the sex too and he said yes, but I didn't think to ask if that was an extra thing you had to ask for or if it comes along with the test.
Thanks for joining the thread! I look forward to hearing about your progress!!

If it like the Panorama test, you have to specifically ask. I had to take that one as I came up high risk on NT scan (scary ass numbers based on our age). Anyhow, i ASKED to know..then sure enough, tests came back and the tech person checked that i did NOT want to know so they didn't test for it...luckily, lab still had my blood so they tested and then called me back a few days later

Yes, I actually did the Panorama (same type of test as Mat21, just different lab). There was an option to check if you wanted to know the sex. They don't charge additionally for it, so if you want to find out, you can
I did have the anatomy scan at about 18 weeks. It was crazy all the things they can check for. We were so relieved to have everything look normal. The baby was moving alot and kicking her little legs, it was so cute!

I am 42, will be 43 at delivery. We are super excited and blessed to finally be starting our family together. We have both help raise the exes children, but do not have any bio children of our own. We also used DE. It still seems unreal that I am actually pregnant (due in November) after a twenty year struggle with IF. So excited to be welcoming our baby girl in the fall.
@motleybabe I havent had terrible symptoms, but last time I didnt have any of the cramping and RLP I am getting this go round.... no bleeding, but I am at the OB for a check anyway.... :-)

Hello everyone! I haven't been posting much but I come and read how others are doing sometimes. I'm 41 now and I'll turn 42 a couple months before this baby is born. It's my third but first 2 were with my ex husband. I'm in a bit of a strange situation because I'm not living with my boyfriend yet (and we're definitely not married yet). But we wanted to start trying because of our ages. I went to a fertility clinic and was told we would need to do IVF with ICSI because of sperm issues. But I ended up with a BFP naturally right before starting IVF. I'm a bit nervous because of potential problems. My NT scan isn't for a while so we haven't told anyone anything yet! I feel like I've known forever. It's a little different this time around!
CTN (cranky tired nauseated) Lol. I just keep wondering what happens when I start carrying weight around! Haha. I just layed down at work for an hour. Couldn't help it I needed to recharge.

I should post on this board more often, but have been pokey about posting anything lately. I'm 42, and 23 weeks pregnant with a little boy (my son is 2 years old). We had a loss last August/September, and had been sort of trying here and there after that, but the month I got pregnant, it was from one round of very tired pre-Valentine's day sex. When the pee sticks turned positive, I thought I was about to fall over from shock.
I'll be 43 when this guy gets here, and I'm all but sure I'll be hanging the "store's closed!" shingle above my uterus after this pregnancy. It's so nice to see so many other over-40 moms in this thread. Congratulations to everyone!

Welcome to the thread @ProcessofBecoming!! And congrats on the sticky baby boy!!!
Gurlllll, I hear ya on the "store's closed" comment! I am SO done!! I'm still in shock that I'm pregnant and most of all that's its sticking! We haven't 'tried' since our daughter was born, then we go and get a little too frisky on Memorial weekend and BAM I got knocked up! I guess all the stars aligned that weekend! LMAO!
This pregnancy is a little nerve wracking for me because I'm older, my son is graduating next year and I was kind of looking forward to having a craft room, dangit!! Seriously, I am more worried about this one than any other pregnancy. Sooo...the hubs is going to have to do a little snip, snip or he stays 10 feet away at all times! teeheeeheee
CTN (cranky tired nauseated) Lol. I just keep wondering what happens when I start carrying weight around! Haha. I just layed down at work for an hour. Couldn't help it I needed to recharge.
Have you actually thrown up yet? I have a few times, but the nausea hasn't been too terrible. I was sick every single day with my daughter until I was 5 months pregnant!! So this is a walk in the park, in comparison.
What is really getting to me is the constipation and bloating! OMG! I've already outgrown my fat pants! I've been in flowy dresses for a week and a half now. We have a casual work environment (gotta love Austin!) and I wear jeans every day. Now all of a sudden I'm wearing dresses! I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to keep the cat in the bag! With my son (18 years ago and much skinnier) I was 5 months before I started showing. With my daughter, I was about 3 1/2 months. Looks like this one will be even sooner!
Ok...Now that I've read my last 2 posts, I guess I'm a little cranky too! hahaha
I'm due around the end of January. I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow. I've had a couple ultrasounds already. One for bleeding (subchorionic hematoma) and one for dating purposes. Though I totally knew when I ovulated so I didn't really need it! I've been feeling ok up until the last few weeks. I've never had morning sickness in any of my pregnancies but I've been having stomach aches and haven't even able to eat on and off for a couple weeks. That and extreme fatigue. I'm so tired that I'm not sure I will be able to get through labor! A little early to worry but still! I'm debating asking about a c-section even though my recovery from that was so horrible! I'm really hoping my energy picks up in hrs next few weeks! I'm with you on the bloating! There are days that I think I look 7 months pregnant! I'm not working this summer though so it's not too hard to hide. Except for going swimming! I've always managed to hide it until 5 months or more so we'll see how it goes!
When are you scheduled for the NT scan? Mine is scheduled for when I'm 11 weeks. Will you have the blood test (Harmony/Mat21)?
Sorry you're feeling so tired! I know that SUX!! I'm fine during work, but as soon as I leave my energy level plummets. Hopefully tho, next trimester you'll feel better. However, the last will be hell on earth...lol. With my daughter, I kept telling my husband that pregnancy is one month too long!! I was so miserable because I couldn't sleep well at all having to get up 5-6 times to pee. I could not wait to get her out!!
So how old are your 2 children? Have you told them yet? I've told me 17 year old, but we'll wait to tell the 4 year old after next month.
I'm 42 (conceived at 41) and this is my first pregnancy. I never tried to conceive in the past. My BF is 54 so I just figured based on our ages alone we were in for a long emotional journey with fertility treatments. Turns out we conceived naturally within 10 months of having my IUD removed. I feel blessed that this happened without outside assistance, but I'm glad these options exist. I congratulate all you mommies for your courage and determination! I wish everyone safe and joyful pregnancies.

beckyp005: So glad to see you're finally getting the baby you've dreamed up, after so many ups and downs...that's amazing!!
mrs.mcirish: You have had a rough road..my goodness. Yay and congrats on the twinsies!! That's soooo cool!

AMA:
I just had my 8 week "official" appt. The baby looks great, with strong heartbeat!! YAY! The doctor also told me about this blood test and I think my head spun around! LOL They can even tell the sex of the baby!! My appt is at 11 weeks, where I will have the NT Scan and the MaterniT21 test. Crazy stuff, I tell ya!
Awww so happy for you! Many, many congrats to you!!! Have you had a sonogram yet?
Sorry about your struggles and the loss at 17 weeks! I know you must be worried sick until after you've passed that milestone! Congrats on the pregnancy (sans RE) and the twins!! Yippeeeeee!! How do you feel with twins? Are your symptoms crazy?
Happy Early Birthday! You and I are very close in age...I will be 43 on the 28th! Please post back tomorrow after your appointment and let us know how it went!! This new blood test seems all the rage right now! My doctor said, "It's revolutionary technology"! Congrats on the new little one!!
Good luck! Crossing my fingers for a sticky BFP for you soon!!

How far along? Due date? How are you feeling? That's awesome that you got a natural BFP!!! Congrats!!!! Everything happens for a reason!
This will be my 3rd baby (9th pregnancy) and I've already retired by jeans!!! It's crazy how bloated I am all the time.
How are all the other lovelies from this thread feeling today?

We haven't 'tried' since our daughter was born, then we go and get a little too frisky on Memorial weekend and BAM I got knocked up! I guess all the stars aligned that weekend! LMAO!
This pregnancy is a little nerve wracking for me because I'm older, my son is graduating next year and I was kind of looking forward to having a craft room, dangit!! Seriously, I am more worried about this one than any other pregnancy. Sooo...the hubs is going to have to do a little snip, snip or he stays 10 feet away at all times! teeheeeheee
