So I have never done cio at night, both babies fall asleep very well (knock on wood) at night but naps is a different story. They can be very tired but the only way to get them to fall asleep is to give them a bottle. I hate doing this because I don't want them to only fall asleep if they have a bottle in their mouth (which is what happens now)
Once they fall asleep they tend to stay down pretty well but getting them down is tough. So I have always said I'll let them "fuss" it out but not cry it out... but I'm getting really tired of running in there and the only thing that will work is giving them the bottle. I read about a modified cio where you check on them every 5 minutes...
Do you think that letting them cio for 5 minutes then going to check will work? Have you tried that? Did it work for you? How many times did you have to do it before they actually slept? I hate them crying so this seems like something I'll have trouble with but I'm really out of ideas and so frustrated!
Re: cio for 5 minutes?
I did something like this on recommendation of my pedi and it worked! This is what our pedi told us to do and in 2 days they both would go right to sleep. (We had nighttime issues though...and in the middle of the night they would come into our bed and I knew it had to stop especially b/c at the time I was pg with Logan and there was no way I would be able to get up with 3 of them at night time- LOL)
Anyway our pedi said to wait 5 minutes and then go in and sooth but not to pick them up (I picked them up anyway though- lol). Then after you leave wait 10 minutes before you go back in there and then 20 etc. We never had to let them cry longer than 10 minutes. Good luck!
