fever question

DS has a 104.5 fever. Highest in his life! He's had a fever all day because we both have a nasty cold. He just had some tylonol at 6 and it's that high. Do I go to the ER, do I call the doc? Help

    Go ahead and call the ped.  When DS's was that high once, the Dr had us give him fluids and motrin and we went in the next morning.

    I would call to see what they say. DS has had a fever that high a few times and has always been OK. In the future, Motrin is better for higher fevers (102 or above) than Tylenol. I would ask the pedi when it is safe to give Motrin and see if that helps bring it down. Also, give him a lukewarm bath and dress him "cool" to make sure he is as comfortable as he can be.

    Thanks ladies.

    Called the doc, they said to wait until 9 to give him motrin, wait about 45 mins. and call them back if it doesn't go down. Right now he is sleeping on my shoulder : ) Thanks again
