Pregnant after a Loss

Help! What do you do about m/s at work??

I havnt told my employer that Im pregnant, too early I feel. Im scared I will risk losing my job so I want to wait as long as possible. BUT Its getting hard to hide as I am nauseous alll day at work, having constant spins and heaving. What do you do about this at work? Are you able to hide it from your employer? I have been using the  flu excuse but that cant last weeks. . Help!

  • I snack.  Every hour.  Eat during meetings (granola bar, apple, etc).  That is the only thing helping me.

  • It really is the worst part of pregnancy and I felt exactly the same way.  As per PP I had to snack a lot, basically ate all day long and when I could I got as much fresh air as possible, it was something about air conditioning that made me feel gross.

I made the decision to tell my immediate manager that I was pregnant because I could not work a full day so I was able to negotiate shorter hours which really helped me through.  I would also recommend acupuncture, I found that it reduced the nausea to a more manageable level and gave me a lot more energy to deal with it when I felt really crappy.

I hope you feel better soon

  • I sipped mint tea throughout the day and ate a snack every hour (but it had to have protein so nuts, peanut butter, cheese, etc.)

  • I was lucky enough to never had m/s, but maybe you can talk to your doctor about a prescription (Zofran) to help you out... H & H
  • I have a drawer full of snacks that seems to help tide it over. Other than that I jsut grin and bear it. First day of nausea was today, but fortunatly my boss knows so I sent her to get me a smoothie. :)
  • Well, people can't fire you just because you are pregnant. Had a friend that was paid 14K plus in a settlement because she was fired for being pregnant (she worked at a granite quarry driving a Cat. They told her that they thought she might get hurt and it would be a big liability. Sorry, this is not legal, even if they are looking out for your best interest. It's discrimination.) So if you are concerned about this, I would start out the conversation: "I am telling you this just because I would like you to know, not because I have a legal obligation....) Good luck.
