I always put DD down on her back and she flips over to her belly before she falls asleep. (I always put her towards the front of the crib so when she flips, she is in the middle.)
I put him down on his tummy. That's the only way he would sleep from about 6 wks on.....and it's been great since. I do have the Angelcare monitor though for my sanity (and his safety)
I put DD on her back and 99% of the time she immediately rolls over on to her tummy.

I've put her down on her tummy every night since about 4 weeks old. Now she rolls over and over back and forth, but she use to just sleep in one spot, on her tummy, happily and for about 5 hours at a time when she was 2 months old. On her back she would wake every 20-40 minutes.
hey caymanbride! your little guy is so cute...amazing how big they are huh? i def. put tanner down on his belly. he starting rolling back to belly at 4 months and i used to put him down on his back but he always immediately rolled to his stomach most times waking himself up. now he goes down great on his tummy.
I put my baby down to sleep on his tummy. When he was younger I would put him to sleep on his back. Since he is older now he definitely prefers his belly.
