honking cough?

DC have had a cold the last few days and yesterday a cough that sounded like it was in their chests, more rattled I guess.  Today dd woke up honking/coughing and weezing sounds sometimes when she breathes in. Totally freaked me out.  DH is taking them to the dr today while I had to go to work. Anyone have this?  thoughts on what it might be?

    CROUP! Does he sound like a seal barking? I had it all the time when I was a baby. Sit in the bathroom and turn the shower on all the way hot and let the steam fill the room. It helps a lot.

    Ditto croup.  If you take them outside and have them breathe in the cold air and it gets better, that's where my money is.  I hope it passes soon.

    We used to go on the "Croup Loop" My mom would stick me in the back of our van and drive around the neighborhood in the middle of the night with the windows rolled down for me to breathe in the fresh cold air.
