I rarely AW, but I had to bring this up. DS loves to yank on my hair like it's a rope attached to a giant bell. So I have tried telling him "be soft" and noticed that he would gently copy me "petting" my hair (well, he flicked) after I would say it. I wasn't totally sure that he was listening though- thought it was maybe a fluke.
Then yesterday when I let him pet our pugs I kept saying "be soft" because he usually tries to poke their eyeballs and he also pinches their ears and fur. But this time he softly put his open hand on the top of their head! It was so cute. Ok , brag over.
Re: AW: I taught DS "be soft!"
aw, that's sweet
my FIL taught dd "nice" for touching his face. so it works like a charm whenever she's pinching we just say nice and she instantly changes her approach.
Yay, that's awesome! I'm working with DS on "be gentle" and he's getting it.
BTW, I share a birthday with your DS.
