My twins pretty much napped in their swings in the family room until they were about 6m -- I would leave the TV / music on and work around them so they could learn to sleep through noise. We then transitioned them to cribs -- but it took a little bit of CIO and setting up new routines to get there.
they have been napping in their cribs since they were 4 months. before that they were in swings. it took a few days for them to get used to but they definetly nap better up there.
Depends on the time of day! For their AM nap, they have always napped in their beds...for their afternoon nap they used to nap in the pnp/swing/bouncy/crib...now they nap in their cribs...evening nap used to be swing/bouncy/pnp...now always crib. Honestly in the last month we've been putting them in their room to nap as before we were worried about them getting their nights/days mixed up again, so we kept them out where it was noisy...I have noticed that this new set up is SOOOOOOOO much better for them.
I think around the age your babies are we got them napping in their cribs. ?It was a pain at first because they woke often and I had to do a lot of bottom patting to get them back to sleep and keep them asleep. ?But I will say in the end it was worth it to not have to break any swing habits or anything.?
They take all their naps in their cribs. I think it was between 3-4 mos when we decided that it should be the cribs every time. It did take some work but now they go down really easy.
Now I just need to know how to get them to nap longer than 30 min.
My boys have always napped in their swings downstairs in the living room. We tried to transition them to their cribs at about 4 months and it was a NIGHTMARE. They wanted to be rocked, we weren't ready to let them CIO and they would NOT fall asleep. So we gave up.
It's funny that you post this because we literally just started transitioning to their cribs again this week. Monday they just did their afternoon nap up there and lasted 45 minutes. Yesterday just the afternoon nap again and they lasted an hour. Today I'm going to try both their morning and afternoon naps up there. They are up there now for their morning nap and have been up there for an hour now!
We've had to do a little CIO for them to fall asleep but it doesn't take long, just some fussing really and then they have passed out. So hopefully it gets better each day. I would definitely recommend transitioning them as soon as possible. I can't believe we let them nap in their swings for the first 8 months! It was definitely the easy way out to let them do that so they could be near us, but it's much better for them to be up there so we can get stuff done around the house while they nap. But in the beginning you have to do what you have to do, right!?!
I try to put them down in their cribs but it doesn't always work. A lot of the time they just sleep in their swings or one in the corner of our sectional if I'm in the living room. She has decided to fuss if she is sleepy during the day and we try to put her anywhere else other than the couch.
