Hi All. I've been lurking here for a while and would like to officially de-lurk. I've been posting on GP, but I'm pretty tired of seeing so many people come and go and asking the same newb questions over and over again. Plus, you all crack me up and I'd really like to be able to "talk" to people who have been through/are going through this infertility stuff.
My background (some of you already know this): I have mild cystic fibrosis, which causes me to have CM issues. We had our first visit with the RE last week, and he wants us to do the standard testing (CD 3 bloodwork, thyroid testing, SA, HSG), and, if everything comes out normal, start with "unmedicated" IUI. I put unmedicated in quotation marks because he still wants to do an ultrasound & HCG trigger on CD 15 because OPKs are unreliable for me.
Oh, and I've never had (or wanted) a BFPB, Google and I are friends, I try not to be a douche, I'll post as much as work will allow, and merms suck & unis are cool.
Re: De-lurking
one of the main reasons this board was created a year ago. Welcome
HCG trigger is good in that it is your best way to determine when to time the IUI for optimal results. Best of luck to you.

LOL - I almost delurked last week, then saw someone else delurk in their 2WW and thought "hmmmm....maybe I'll wait until next week"
Thanks everyone!
He was. He said it could prevent the sperm from getting to the egg, and it could prevent the cilia in the fallopian tubes from "sweeping" the egg into the uterus.
Welcome!

I'm sure, just like all other aspects of CF, the amount it affects our fertility various from person to person. I would think, in general, it would be less likely to create CM issues for a person with very mild CF, just like it less likely to cause lung damage. I consider myself mild, but (I think) not as mild as you are - I still get bronchitis from time to time and have chronic sinusitis, so maybe the doctor's assumption is, if it affects my lungs & sinuses, it is more likely to affect me down there? IDK. Or, maybe the mindset of doctors is just different here in TX.

I'm in Austin - are you in SAN? (noticed the Spurs in your sig.)
No, more's the pity. DH and I are both from the area (I grew up in NB, literally right outside Gruene), but we're in Houston now. It is humid here, and filled with Rockets fans. I wish we lived back home, I miss the Hill Country.

Hi Mainer...I know you from GP. I lurk here too...the GP board is just overrun with newbs. I don't know where I fit in anymore! There should be a "TTC for what feels like an eternity" board!
Keep us posted on your testing...I have to go for a HSG if AF shows this cycle. Will you be going for yours soon?

Hey laure - I know you too
I am gonna do my HSG next month. We want to do it right before our first IUI because of the anecdotal evidence that it increases fertility, so we want to maximize our chances.
Good luck with yours, and let me know how it goes!
