I started to "spontaneously abort" (I hate that terminology) yesterday. My doc said that since the baby was only measuring 5w1d, my body should be able to take care of it by itself. I see that a lot of you ladies seem to have had the procedures.
I have been having intense cramps and the expected blood and clots, so maybe my body is taking care of it.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Did anyone not have a D&C or D&E?
My 1st mc I was not bleeding or cramping and was 8 weeks so my ob gave me my choices (meds, natural or surgery) and since it could have been weeks away I chose the D & E.
My 2nd mc was Friday and since it was my 2nd I chose D&E so my ob could send the "products of conception" for genetic testing. I also was not bleeding or cramping yet and was only 6 1/2 weeks but had 2 blighted ovums. So, I also did not want to have to wait to mc. Although my OB said that if I chose to do it naturally that it would be just a heavier period with not that much cramping from a normal period at 6 1/2 weeks. GL to you!
First of all, big hugs to you. ?I'm sorry you're going through this. ?
?I had a natural m/c at 5w3d. ?My body did everything on its own. ?I ovulated 17 days after the first day of heavy bleeding so my body really did a good job on its own. ??
I just miscarried on Saturday night after I found out about the missed m/c on Friday. I got intense cramps that were timely every 3 or 4 minutes. Then it came, alot at once. I filled 2 pads in two hours and at the end passed a major clot and then it slowed down after that.
I still have cramps today but I'm finally taking ibuprofen for them - MW said I could have 800mg 3x's/day - since I know that the baby is no longer there. I had a follow-up u/s and the gestational sac is gone. I was 10 wks along. I still have bleeding as well. The doctor says it can a few more days on both.
I had a hard time taking ibuprofen more than 1, because the thought of taking it was wrong in my head "because it's bad for the baby". But taking more has made me so comfortable.
Sorry for your loss, I understand wanting to know. I had a hard time finding out info this weekend. Our prayers are with you.
I'm sorry for your loss... ?
I m/c naturally at 9 weeks. It all took about 48 hours - from the time spotting/cramping started and I passed all tissue. I was kind of shocking for me how quickly it went. Friday I was pregnant, Monday my uterus was completely empty... I was glad I didn't need surgery, but the brutal efficiency of my body kind of scared me.
2.5 weeks later at my followup my hcg was 18. I haven't gone back yet, but I suspect I have reached baseline by now.?
I have my WTF appt on the 9th. I was going to ASK for DC - I've had 3MC's, and have heard DC actually helps the lining to accept a pregnancy better the next time around.
I need to plan this so that DH can drive me home obviously, and with him starting a new job it's going to be kind of difficult.
I've started ALLI too to lose the 30+lbs I've gained over the past year.
-the bad news is my newest addiction ~Hershey Kiss Special Dark Chocolate~ has alot of fat in it?....uugghh...

My first m/c was at 11w when I started bleeding. U/s confirmed no growth since 6 w. Since I was already bleeding we decided to wait to see if it's pass naturally. By 12w it had not, so I had a D&C. 2nd m/c I was followed very closely (due to a prior ectopic), so we knew early there was no growth. I started bleeding around 7-8 weeks and fortunately it passed naturally.
While the D&C is not very complicated, it is surgery and isn't without risks. If your body can clear the pregnancy naturally, it's better overall, IMO.
I'm very sorry for your loss.
I had a natural m/c and my baby was measuring 7 weeks, 5 days at the time. My heavy bleeding started on Monday and I passed the tissue on Thursday. I was glad I had not had the D&C.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
