How do you deal with fighting?

In the last couple of weeks my kids have started to fight a lot. ?They fight over stupid toys and end up hitting each other! ?Tonight they really went at it. So far I've been taking away the toy, separating them and TRYING to show them the 'nice' way to touch their sibling. ? I guess I can't do much else than that! ?Any tips?

We do timeouts and I make the boys give each other hugs and say their sorry.

At their age I just redirect. They are too little to do timeouts etc. But we also practiced "nice hands" and "hugs" .
