We are thinking of using the top of our dresser as the changing table, with a contoured pad on top. Is there anything I can put on top of the changing table to protect it from getting scratched?
We used a dresser with a contoured changing pad on it. The pad slipped so we put a mesh-foam rug protector under it. This prevents the pad from slipping and will also prevent scratches, however, I don't think the changing pad will scratch the finish... You can buy the rug mat thing at Target or any place like that for really cheap and then just cut it to fit your dimensions.
Been there - done that - go to a fabric store (or Bed, Bath & Beyond) and get the THICK plastic tablecloth cover - just cut to size...and if it frays, you can cut another one - they last about 6 months with use & washing the regular top, etc...
Ava's changing pad is on her dresser, and it doesn't scratch the finish at all. the bottom has some sort of non-skid (rubbery) coating -- it doesn't slide around at all.
Re: Dresser as changing table - table protector?
There is nothing on our changing table pad that would scratch the dresser, and ours is a pretty standard model.
