Did anyone have a Subchorionic Hematoma?

Hi - I am 12 and a half weeks pregnant with twins, and had some red bleeding about 2 weeks ago (almost like a period). The past few days I have had some brown spotting, which they told me to expect. Went in the doctor, they have done multiple ultrasounds since then and everything looks perfect each time (great heartrates and growing to the day or a little ahead). The doctor says that I have a small (about 2 cm) Subchorionic Hematoma. They do not sound too concerned about it, and expect that it will go away on its own. However, I am a nervous wreck, especially when I was about to go public with this pregnancy.

 Has anyone experienced this? Thanks!

  • I did with my singleton pregnancy, it resolved itself by my 18 week u/s but did cause a few spotting episodes.  I also spotted at 12 weeks and my dr's said that this is when the placenta is attaching and it is very common to spot at this time.  HTH!

  • Yes, I had one. I had bright red clots and bleeding at 8 weeks.  Mine was rather large I was told, but I don't recall the size.  I was on strict bedrest due to the size for 2 weeks, then modified bedrest. I had u/s weekly and the collection got smaller with each week. It wasn't seen on u/s by 14 weeks.  My girls are here now and fine. Its always nervewracking to bleed in pregnancy.  I was told these are more common with multiple pregmancies.  Best of luck.
  • These stories make me feel so much better. Thank you thank you!!! The bleeding is so scary, and all that matters to me right now are these tiny babies!

  • I did, starting at 11 weeks 3 days.  It continued on and off for about 2-3 weeks.  For the past week it has been light brown spotting, and at today's u/s my peri said the blood is almost all gone.  I know it's hard, but try not to worry about it.  I heard that up to 1/2 of twin pregnancies experience this (sometimes the mom doesn't even know about it - the blood gets reabsorbed into the body).
  • I had one and ended up on bedrest for it only because it was fairly large. ?I had bleeding for weeks and spotting afterwards for weeks. ?I wouldn't be too concerned if your Dr isnt concerned!?
