Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

ANOTHER milk question(s)

how long do you consider it "good" once in a bottle/sippy??

does this change if you warm it up before giving to DC?

do you throw it back in refridge and offer again later??

  • Good Questions! no help here need to know too!!

  • I tried to look it up and this is what I found:

"According to most experts, milk can sit out at room temperature for two hours and still be safe to use. If the milk has been out for two hours and 15 minutes chances are it is probably still safe, but you probably shouldn?t take that risk with your child..."

    also

"Your toddler can continue to drink out of a cup as long as it has not been out of the refrigerator for more than two hours. If your child drinks out of a cup and then puts it in the refrigerator they can continue to drink out of that cup for 24 hours, but anything longer may allow for bacteria to grow in the cup..."

I don't know about the warming up bit.

  • I'll leave it out for about an hour and let him work on it. Usually he finishes it within an hour. There are lots of times at dinner when he doesn't finish his sippy of milk so I'll just put it right back in the fridge and offer it during breakfast. I don't warm up his milk because I don't want him to get used to warm milk. I've even had to tell daycare to not warm it because they automatically do.
  • oh and here's where I found that information:
