Rocking to sleep once doth not a habit make. Right?

For the first time ever, DS let me rock him to sleep after he tried refusing a nap.  There's no reason to expect him to want rocking for every nap now, is there?  For the most part, he has been one to go down for a nap with minimal fussing...

  • I rock DS to sleep every now and then...even if he doesn't need it...Just because I LOVE IT.  I don't think it would ever be a negative thing.  Enjoy this time!!

  • Um, this is the only way I can get Ben to nap for me lately.

For the sitter we have 2 days and for my sister who watches him 2 days, he'll go in his crib drowsy, play and then go to sleep.  Me...not so much.  I'm hoping this is a phase.  If not, it's not the worst thing in the world to have to rock my baby to sleep for naps.

  • It was really sweet, after he stopped fighting and started snuggling (seriously, the kid seems to avoid cuddles like the plague).  I just don't think that 20+ minutes of rocking for every nap is a healthy sleep habit to get into.  I'm sure that it's fine once in a while though.

Alaina is pretty much anti-cuddling too :( I would melt if she let me rock her to sleep one more time before she's a toddler!! She will only accept me standing and bouncing when /if she needs my help settling down. But,to answer your original question I think once does not = habit at all. Even once a week would be totally cool.
