Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Oh.My.God. I killed his lovey.

Adam has a stuffed puppy he won't sleep without. It has to be THIS puppy. I've tried others and failed miserabley. He sucks on the ears to fall asleep.

Last night his lips were so chapped that they crack open, and he ended up getting blood all over his pup. So, I stuck it in a pillowcase after this morning's nap and tossed it in the washer.

I DECAPITATED his lovey! Seriously, the head come off completely. I'm trying to sew it back together, but I fear he'll forever be named Frankenpup. I just hope Adam won't be scarred by Frankenpup's scarring.

  • If he sucks on the ears to fall asleep, it was only a matter of time before Puppy fell apart.

Good luck!  When you get a new lovey, sleep with it under your shirt for a night to make it smell like mom.

  • Oh no!! I don't suppose you bought it at Target, and that there are tons in stock, and that you could drive to Target it 5 minutes to get a new one...??
  • I literally laughed out loud at the part about decapitating the lovey.  I hope you can fix it.  :)

  • I just forked over $20 on ebay for one. It was a shower gift from a baby boutique out of town.

Those darn ebay people, preying on a mother's desperation.

In the mean time, Frankenpup will have to do.

  • DD is the same way with a bunny security blanket my mom got her. I don't know what I would do if bunny fell apart! I feel for you

  • Oh no!  I'm just starting to lurk from 0-6, but I thought I'd try to reassure you.  My lovey (a teddy bear) lost an arm when I was little, but I have no fear of one-armed bears.

Ahhhhh -- is that a one armed bear?  RUN!!

  • Oh no! Tragedy at the Steph house! GL sewing it back together!!!

  • LOL @ Frankenpup. I hope he doesn't know the difference.
  • oh no!!! he won't notice the stitches :)  not this young.

my teddy bear (who i still have by the way), has stitches in the back of his head, and you can see them.  black teddy bear with white stitches?!? hello, mom!

  • DD has a blanket that she loves, and I keep meaning to buy another in case anything happens to it.

  • At least you found another!  DS is starting to grow attached to the blanket we put in his crib.  The problem is that it was made by a friend's grandmother who is no longer living!  I'm somewhat tempted to try to switch it out for something else before he becomes too attached. :)
  • Oh no!  Sorry to hear it.  But I did LOL @ Frankenpup.
  • This is my worst fear! My aunt was laughing at DD's lovey yesterday saying it looks like it should belong to a 10 year old with the horrible condition it is already in. It's a "white" cat whose ears have been eaten by the dog, washed and ultimately dyed with blue jeans with matted fur. I need to find another one before this becomes the end to our lovey as well.
  • That's why I bought four identical bears to Daniel's favorite one!

    Good luck

  • Sorry to hear that. I hope you were able to fix it. If not, I hope there is another you can purchase either at a store or online.

From my friend Susan, I got 3 identical lovey for DD. I have one for day care, one for her crib and one "just in case". Susan had 7 Peter the Rabbits for her son. She had it for the car, daycare, home, accidents, etc. She's keeping one "in the box" (i.e. new) for when he grows up I think.

DS likes her lovey, but I have to admit, I've been "pushing" that one a little more compare to her other toys. Because her other stuff animals, I only have one of because they are gifts. She seems to like all her soft toys equally so far, so I'm waiting to see what comes out ahead and so I can pick up a few more if possible.

  • I am hand-over-gasping-open-mouth horrified!!  Pooooor Frankenpup!  So glad you could find another on EBAY!
  • We have two identical elephants for this very reason.  She teethes on the trunk and tail and I have to wash them constantly. I think I need one or two more.
  • How could you...
