Pregnant after a Loss

If you are working until you go into labor

Why are you planning on doing this?

Now that I am at week 36 I am so wishing I could stop earlier.  I have no patience for work and would rather do stuff at home... but instead I get tired at work and have no energy to prepare.  I'm doin this because I have been w/ my company for less then 1 year and have a very limited leave.

Re: If you are working until you go into labor

  • I'm planning to work until my due date, unless she arrives early.  I would love to have a couple of weeks to run errands and finish getting everything ready, but that is trumped by my desire to spend as much time as possible with my baby.

  • I am doing it because I get 12 weeks off regardless of when I stop working and would rather have all 12 weeks to spend with my baby.
  • I am a teacher, and I have to use my sick time for paid time off, so I did not want to waste it before he is born...

    Though, I may regret it?

  • b/c i want as much time w/ baby as i can get.  plus work is close to the hospital, actually closer then home so if i should go into labor at work, it will be easy to get there also.  but mostly b/c i want as much time w/ the baby as possible.  dh is really good about getting stuff ready around the house so i think we'll be just fine.
  • I am to maximize my time home with her. Also, my Dh will be with her all summer and we need to make sure my leave works with his. Right now we will have about 1 week overlap... if I went on leave early I would need to find child care for 1 or 2 weeks which we are not prepared to do.
  • I'm due March 30(Monday) and my last day of work is the 27th (Friday). I am a teacher in Florida and only have a certain time that will be paid and then the rest is unpaid. I also teach 3rd grade which is an FCAT year and the FCAT dates are in March and I don't want to miss them and want to be there for the students for as long as I can. Plus-- I promised my principal that I won't deliver early-- haha.
  • $$$$ My mat is unpaid. I am using my vacation time but that is it.

  • I work for a small cpa firm and there is no one to take over my clients so they will be backing up once I leave for the 12wks after baby. That alone is driving me crazy as it is.

  • I was going to work up until I deliver but am stopping a few days before I get induced.  I have 12 weeks off and want to spend as much time with baby, but I'm finding it harder and harder to come into the office.  My last day will be Feb 4th and I'm hoping we'll induce that weekend of early the following week.  I should find out on Thursday!

  • I'm only working up to that point b/c I will be working full-time from home at the beginning of March.  If I had to be in the office, I'd rethink that decision!!
  • We just need the $$ I don't get paid leave.
  • My leave is unpaid so I'm using vacation time to cover it. I don't want to use any up before she's here. I'd love to have some time off before to finalize things but that's not really an option.
  • I am because we need the money.  I am the primary earner right now until DH gets his massage therapist business started up. It is going to be difficult while I'm out of work, I get 60% of my salary through STD.

  • I want to use as much of my leave as possible while the baby is here. Although, I will probably just work from home a few weeks before giving birth if I'm not feeling well.
  • We need the money, plain and simple.

I stopped at 37 weeks last time and it was heavenly to relax for those last few weeks.

I would not work this time if I did not have to, for financial reasons.

  • I plan to take my full 12 weeks, and I want as much of that time with baby as possible. I also don't get paid while I'm out unless I use my sick/vacation time, so I want to maximize that.

Also, I will go stir crazy at home just "waiting" for baby. I think work will be a nice distraction for me instead of thinking every 30 seconds, "oh, was that a contraction?" "maybe today is the day?" etc.

  • I'm working at least until my due date.  I have friends that left a week or two early and then were a week or two late and got to spend less time with the baby when s/he arrived.  Although having time off to finish some things up would be nice!
  • I'm a teacher and have to use my sick time for leave and only have a minimal amount saved.
  • im just working part time now so I will work till I feel ok.....we will see.
  • I'm doing it for the same reason. I have very limited paid time off with no short term disability.
