some CW yesterday (in a talk about cold/flu season that lead to a talk about germs) - stated that she saw on a news report that the seat is actually less germy than the paper seat covers.

Sorry, but I will still swear by my seat covers. You never know who may have "dripped" during the day.

Really? I can see maybe the first few being pretty germy I guess since they might get sprayed when the toilet gets flushed, but wouldn't the toilet seat, too? And that's without the "dripping" and who knows what else on the actual seat.
