Any good heartburn remedies?

Everyone says milk but that just doesn't cut it for me. I got heartburn from oatmeal and toast today!  Now I'm suffering because I gave in to my craving and had a burrito tonight. Yeah that was dumb. Pepcid sometimes helps but it just doesn't seem to be enough either. I'm going to try Zantac as that's what my doctor recommended but not feeling to confident about that...

  • I actually have luck with tums and milk...sorry! Also if I know I am goign to eat spicy food, I eat a bananna first to fill my tummy a bit so that I dont scarf down too much and give myself heartburn...GL to you that must be aweful!

  • Last time, my doctor told me to take Zantac and Maalox together. ?It helped, but it didn't get rid of it entirely. ?You will probably want to ask your doctor about whether he/she is ok with Maalox and whether you can take it with Zantac, because different doctors have different philosophies on meds.
  • Tums my doc also gave the ok for Zantac

  • Tums and Milk always worked for me.  GL!
  • I lived off Gas X during my 1st trimester.  Now my pregnancy has come full circle because I am again living off it due to indigestion.

  • I love maalox.. it's always helped me before being pregnant but a pharmacist told me my doc might not like it because it's based on aspirin.  But my doc says aspirin is fine. But I also think that's wierd that he said that... I've heard aspirin is a no no for preggers.
  • Pepcid -- it will be your best friend!

  • Aw, I feel for ya - I've been there.  When I had heartburn at the end of my last PG, I would eat my weight in Tums, and drink gallons of water.  Otherwise, the only thing to keep heartburn at bay for me was my diet.  I avoided everything good: chocolate, fried foods, fatty foods, spicy foods.  Bland city.  HTH!

  • I wish I had known this sooner in my pregnancy  (I didn't think to ask doctor until like 28 weeks or so along) ~ definitely take the zantac! Its a miracle drug~lol!
  • My doctor prescribed Zantac 150. It's been working great. I never got heartburn before being pregnant, but now I get it all the time. I think you can get it OTC, but since I get my meds from the Navy pharmacy I don't pay anything for them.
  • Zantaz works well.  Also with the milk, maybe try drinking it with your food before you actually get heartburn?  With severe heartburn, milk does no good once the symptoms appear.
