Trying to be calm...can you help?

I have had a "tightening" feeling under boobs and in upper back all day. When I spoke to nurse last week about swelling she said tightening under boobs is uterus growing & w/ twins it's worse. So if it feels like it's going all the way around my upper body should I assume it's whatthe nurse said? Did anyone else feel this way? TIA!!!!

  • I felt that way from about 15 weeks to about 32 or 33 weeks until my son dropped and made room for my daughter (who was right under my ribs to drop too).  It was excruciating...I couldn't sit in my chair at work, lie in bed, etc.

  • Really? Maybe that is what's happening. I haven't felt much movement today so everything is freaking me out! First pregnancy...and I'm a worrier! I tried a bath, tylenol, sitting on my side, nothing really did too much to help:(
  • Like the pp, I felt that from around 16 weeks up until about a week ago.  I noticed yoga stretches helped a ton.
  • Also, try pepcid ac (I think that's what I took).  I had the same thing and it ended up being heart burn (something I'd never had before the pg).  Good luck.
  • Is the pain constant or does it come and go on waves.  If it's coming and going in waves this may be gallstones. No book or doctor tells you until you have them that this is very VERY common for pregnant women, especially if you have mutliples.  THey don't know why this happens, but it usually means you need to have your gallbladder removed.  I had mine removed in October.  I know a MoM who had hers removed while still very pregnant.  You may be passing stones, in which case the pain will subside but you will find that you have trigger foods that bring the pain back. Mine was pasta with cheese and tomatos.
  • It was constant and not really pain, just like a pressure. I did call my ob and she thinks its gas/bowels moved up. I've been taking iron due to anemia and she thinks that along w/ regular pregnancy symptoms may be "backing me up". She told me to take some prunes and to take them daily. start a routine. If those don't work try metamucil. I actually had some (I like them) and took some and am feeling a bit of relief...so that could be it. When I did my ER I had this problem from the added progesterone...so maybe all the hormones, iron etc are doing it again. Pregnancy makes the weirdest things happen!!

    Thank You all so much!!
