Re: heidisean

  • Hi, I am here now!

I just had my 2nd D & E on Friday and we sent the "contents" to be tested and also me and dh were recommended to have the rpl testing and karotyping/genetics done.  We will start that in 2-3 weeks after my recheck for my surgery.  Did you do any testing or plan to?  What did they find out?  It really sucks in plain English especially since we already have a 2 1/2 year old and had no problems concieving or carrying her.

  • Hey there,

No I didn't do any testing, because I decided to do the cytotec instead of d&e. I am however going to see my dr. in a couple of weeks, because I did request to have some blood work done. I'm just not sure what they need to test for. I've heard so many different things, so I'm wondering if maybe it's not just my hormones and they could start with that. Could you tell me what rpl testing is. I've seen it on here ,but not sure what it stands for?

I was going to ask you about your daughter, I was wondering if you had any  problems with that pregnancy.  thats a good sign that you have had a full term pregnancy.

  • rpl testing is all bloodwork (about 10-14 vials) and they test it for "everything" from thyroid problems, std's, etc.  Then we are having the genetic karotyping done (bloodwork from me and dh) to see if anything chromosomal is going on.  Then from all the testing our OB will be able to say "you have a 1 in 4 chance of having another mc due to...." or you have a 3 in 4 chance of mc due to ....." and give us our percentages.  However, 60% of people who are testing show "unexplained infertility" no problems just flukes of nature that we are mc'ing.  But, my OB HIGHLY recommended having the "contents" tested, the rpl testing and the karotyping since I had 2 consecutive mc's.  If you google rpl testing it will cover it in detail.  The association of ob's is recommending that anyone with 2 consecutive mc's have the testing done.  I would rec you look into it.  It only takes a few weeks to get your results back.  My OB wants us to wait 2 cycles and he said by the time we ttc again we will have our answers from these tests.

As for my dd, we got pregnant the 2nd mo ttc her and absolutely had no problems with my pregnancy at all.  I had the perfect textbook pregnancy with her.  Who would have thought we would have soo much trouble with #2?

  • Thank you so much for all the info.I had no idea rpl testing checks all of that. I do plan on asking my ob to order that test. Unfortunately he was hesitant when I did request to have some tests done. He sounded pretty confident that this was just a fluke to happen twice, but I just don't think I can go through this again without some answers, and he is pretty laid back for the most part, so I hopefully I won't  have a problem.Good luck to you and hopefully we'll both have goo newsSmile
