1st Trimester

I can't believe that just happen...

A co-worker of mine just walked in and said, "Wow, you're getting big already, are you having twins?" and then proceeded to tell me that I "better be careful."  Are you serious?!?!? What just happen?!? To date I have lost 3 pounds - I just got my appetite back last week! And, this is my second kid, so what if I have a bump already (a very small bump at that! My husband still tells me he can't tell!!!)

Nothing like feeling bad abour yourself and not being able to do anything about it....maybe I should eat something. haha

Re: I can't believe that just happen...

  • I'd go find that co-worker and say, "Those things you said to me a little while ago? Please promise me you'll never say those kinds of things to a pregnant woman again." Hopefully that would give them the hint that it was super rude!

  • My SIL is having her second baby and started to show about the same time you are. I would not worry about it and just go on with your business. As long as you know you are on track for the weight gain I would not worry about it.

Your ab muscles are more relaxed than with the first pregnancy so the baby will naturally show sooner.

Here ya go sweetie. You're gonna need that. Unfortunately, it only gets worse... but kicking the crap out of the stupid people who make these type of comments always makes me feel better. Stick out tongue

  • WTF!  That sucks!  I'm about the same place you are and am starting to show.  My students asked me if I was pregnant or getting fat.  But they're socially not all there teenagers...screw that coworker!

  • Ok, in all honesty, let me say take the advice of the nice person who said to have a civil conversation reminding her how rude it was.

But if it were me, I probably would have shot fire from my eyes and said, "oh, well, how far along are you? I mean, I'm just trying to compare..."

Um, yeah. The Bump be too crazy for pics of my kid.
  • I'm a fan of "I'm pregnant. What's your excuse?" I already know of one a-hole at work that I'm sure I'll end up saying that to down the road!! Smile

  • I have actually gained weight, which I'll be honest is all me and not so much baby (I mean seriously Peanut is just now an inch tall).  But I am not worrying about it, and if people want to make comments so be it.  I guess I just really ignore people.  When I was pregnant with my DD I think I heard it all, at 7 months pregnant I would hear "Wow, you're big for 7 months" and an hour later someone would say "Are you sure you're eatting enough you're so small."  I mean who is the mold for what a pregnant woman is supposed to look like?  So eat your snacks and eat your meals and if you are ok with how you look or the size of your bitty bump then I say keep on keepin' on.

  • people used to say that to me too...people are so supportive
  • What an ass, due to my hormones I would probably just cry and feel horrible. If you could have a civil conversation with this person I would suggest it. Why some people are so rude I will never understand??? GL!
  • Some people should just shut up!

  • I've had people tell me I'm showing, not even thinking about how insensitive it is. I would never say that to a PG woman, even if I was 100% sure she was PG (and some of the people who said it to me were not!).

  • As a follow up to this post, I had my 12 weeks appointment yesterday...everything was great. We heard the heartbeat and it was beautiful. AND, to top it off, I have lost three pounds since my last appointment. I think I'm going to email her and tell her not to worry about my growing waistline. =)

    Thanks for the support ladies!
