Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Does your daycare do this??

Last week I was looking for DS's blanket to take home with us and clean and found both of his blankets in his crib at daycare.  They were all messy-lying in there and I'm just wondering----does your daycare put blankets in with the babies during naptime???  I thought that was a NO NO.

DS doesn't really have the total grasp that he can control the blanket coming off his face so sometimes he panics when it's over his face (like when we're playing peek a boo) and he actually panics so much he holds his breath.  So seeing this in his crib scared me a little--but maybe I'm just over-reacting???

This is coming from the say daycare who didn't even want to do tummy time with him b/c they weren't sure of the 'rules' of having a baby on their tummy.  I looked at them like "are you kidding me???"  It's not like they're letting him sleep that way (which I do at home BTW).

Anyways......I digress.

  • They don't do anything if I didn't tell them to.  I told them he could sleep with his blanket if he was chilly (only up to his waist) and I told them he could sleep on his tummy.  Ms. Judy (his teacher) has her chair right next to his crib anyway so I don't worry about it.  He is her favorite :o)

  • I have seen blankets in other babies' cribs - I don't provide one for DD specifically so that doesn't happen.
  • Yes. Once I supplied the blanket they began using them at naptime.

If you are concerned, bring extra clothes and do not supply a blanket.

  • Yes, our daycare lets the babies sleep with a blanket.  We send a blanket with her at the beginning of the week and it stays in her crib for nap time.  It's a very light weight blanket.  That being said, if your DS is nervous about a blanket over his face and/or it makes you uncomfortable at all, you should tell them.  You are the parent and if you ask them not to leave a blanket with him during nap time then they shouldn't.
  • My DC lady is great.  We leave a blanket there and she washes it and all of that stuff.  She listens to what I have to say and she tells me what works for her there.  I pph my DC lady.
  • our daycare won't put anything in the crib with them till 1 year.  DD can't even have her little lovey if she's in her crib.  i said it was okay, but that's their rules.

    ditto exactly

  • For us I believe it is a state rule.  No blankets till 1 year.

  • My daycare will not put anything in the crib, even if we wanted them too.

  • Can you provide a sleep sack instead?  Our daycare puts a blanket in with my DS but they keep a pretty good eye on the kids so I don't worry too much.  We noticed DS takes better naps in his sleep sack anyway so we asked them to put him in the sleep sack for naps instead of using blankets.
