When will you start with a sippy cup?

I have a few of the sippy cup trainers that ar for 4+ months. I was thinking of starting at least one feeding and seeing how the girls liked it (within the next few weeks). When are you going to start w/a sippy cup?

  • Not until she is at least starting to hold a bottle on her own.

  • I tried to get my DD take a bottle from 5 wks old to 4 mth... it never worked, then I tried a sippy cup just to see what would happen.  She likes the cup more, she grabs it and brings it to her mouth.  She only uses it for about 5 mins, and gets less than 1/2 oz of milk, but she''s just learning and enjoys it.
  • wow. it never occurred to me i could start a sippy cup this early. i'm going to try it! thanks for the idea!

  • I started at 4months. She just chews it most of the time but its good practice.
  • Our pedi said it was ok to start at 4 months, but recommended waiting until 6 months.  I'm not sure what the reasoning was to wait.

  • These are the sippy cups. Audrey holds her bottle (or really tries to) and I think she might do well on it. Not sure about Natalie, she loves us to hold her bottle for her!

  • I just bought a klean kanteen for DS.  I think I'll try in a few weeks.  DS can sort of hold his bottle...but it starts drooping after  a while since he gets distracted
