I was just talking to a coworked who has 2 year old twin boys. He was saying that they are in therapy because they are twins. His wife doesn't want them to have any identity issues when they are older and that their Dr. thought they were having "issues" already.
Really?? Does anyone else think this is totally over kill??
Re: I thought this was odd......
I guess it really depends on the children... but yes this seems rediculous to me... like a money grab from the dr. and therapist.
My cousin has twin boys that are getting close to 3 now and they haven't had any therapy or concerns about identity issues and they are identical twins.
Uh, yeah! Unless there is some behind the scenes trauma there, but really and identity crisis at TWO!?!
I think not
Oh come on. What kind of "identity" issues are 2 year olds going to be having? Their biggest concern right now is 1) where's my toy and 2) why can't I have more juice?
Something tells me that these twins are your co-worker's first children. Oh, and that their Dr is completely doing this for $$.
I find myself playing in my head what a session might be like~ Ok Joey let's pick up where we left off last session, your were starting to tell Mr Teddy why you keep putting Glen's binky in the toilet..............
I work in an office that provides childrens services. Case managment, therapy, and psychiatric services. We rarely see kids under three. We provide services to children this young by working through the parent! Hopefully, if these boys are in therapy, it's actually for the parent to help mom and/or dad develop better parenting skills to address whatever behaviors have brought this family to seek services.
I wonder what kind of "therapy" they are getting...
