Good Morning ladies! Are any of you thinking about using cloth diapers? if so where do you get your info from. i am considering cloth diapering but around my area it is very rare and there are no services. TIA
Try the Eco-friendly family board. They are always talking about cloth diapers on there! I got bum genius 3.0 diapers. They look great and I read great reviews about them online.
I get mine at sweetlittleblessings.com
I buy 1 or 2 a paycheck so that I will have enough by the time baby gets here.
Im considering. I was cloth diapered as a child and my Mom loved it. Its also a hell of a lot cheaper. She would dump the mess(if there was one) in the potty and throw them all together in the wash. (Minus our clothes and such of course!) And in hard economic times and trying to be "green" im def. considering! Oh and by the way.... cloth diapers are the BEST dust rags! My mom still uses ours for that purpose. They dont scratch! Who knew!
We are! I have ordered one bum genius diaper and it's great! I really like how soft and comfortable it is (well, must be; it's not like I can try it on - ).
I've learned a LOT on the EFF board. Diaperpin.com has great reviews, too. It's overwhelming at first but I've found the more I look at it, the more I get it. It mostly makes sense to me now that I know what I'm looking for!
I like the simple prefolds with nylon pullup pant. DD is 14 months and I have spent about $200 total on diapers and accessories TOTAL. And what I have will last until she is toilet-trained. Go for it. Washing them- especially pre-solids is so not a big deal. Once they are on solids it can get a little stinky, but SO not a big deal. 2 musts if you use prefolds- the Snappis (awesome alternative to pins) and rice liners (when they're a little bigger). Good luck!

I'm thinking about it, too. I've looked into G Diapers but got some solid advice from Iris on the 0-6 Board about them being a scam. I'm a little wary of the poopy cloths laying around my house for a day, an afternoon or an hour which is why I was looking for cloth alternatives... Anyway, I'm still researching. Iris's blog is a great read re: cloth diapering, FYI.

I too was trying to go the cloth diaper route...any other tips?
also, does anyone know anything about the gdiaper that BRU sells? Here's a link: https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3124127 DH and I are trying where we can to be as green as possible and this seemed like a good compromise?!?!?!? Any one have any experience?
We are having the same problem with not having a service in our area for cloth diapers and not sure the extra laundry fits into the work life balance that we are struggling to have :-(
TIA!

I CD DD and I love it. I have 24 Bum Genius 3.0 one size diaper and 1 Made By Mama diaper (the one in my siggy). I love the BGs but the velco tabs are starting to not stick as well. And the microfiber is starting to stink and it's definitely not as soft as they were. My plan was to CD both kids with these diapers.
Do check out the Eco-Family Friendly board. You can ask questions or just scroll back a few pages and read all the other CD posts.
A good place to get used diapers is diaperswappers.com. You can buy ones people are selling and if you don't like them, you didn't pay full price and you can always sell them to somebody else.
Again thanks for all the info, it is very overwhelming but i am so eager to try it i have super sensitive skin and i'm afraid my lil pumpkin will too. my boyfriend is not too thrilled about it but once i get all the info i'm sure i will convince him LOL
We are! DH has been doing a lot of research over the last week. We're going to buy a few of the Fuzzi Bunz, a few Bum Genius, and also try G Diapers using a cloth insert instead of the disposable insert. We'll use the disposable insert when we're out & about. Some of the ladies on the Eco board recommend buying a few of several brands to see what you & your baby like the best. The Bum Genius seems to get raves all the time. ?

I am eco friendly on this board! I plan to use a service in our area that drops off and picks up your diapers weekly. I am very excited despite all the negative comments that I have gotten from friends and family.
We had already talked to a diaper service here in Baltimore and were planning on going that direction until we went to a friends house that was also using cloth diapers. Her house just stunk of dirty diapers. Since they only come 1-2 times a week you are storing the diapers until they replenish them.
It could have just been her way of keeping them, but we have decided not to do it. It is cheaper but at what expense?!
Re: Anyone thinking of cloth diapering??
