I don't know what I am waiting for.....here I am at 15 weeks, I can only keep wearing the big baggy shirts for so long. Its not like my company is bad...everyone is very open minded and easy to work for. I don't know what my problem is!!!
You are not by yourself. I have not told my boss yet. I am on night shift, so it has been really easy to avoid. I don't know my boss that well and it's just so easy to avoid working the hours I do. If you are eligible for FMLA just make sure you give enough time to get your leave straightened out. My co-workers know though and amazing none of them have snitched.. I told them in case something ever happens when I am working on the floor I would want them to know what is going on with me. You will them when the time is right.
I would hold off as long as you can!!!! I do fundraising and events and told my boss a few weeks ago and you would think that I am going to go into a coma...not have a baby. She has gone off the deep end with details about everything. I thought she would understand, but since it will affect our events, it has become more stressful than I wanted. I would have waited longer if I had any reason to expect this from her.
Also...once your co-workers find out your personal life becoes water cooler talk. About how you look, what you are naming him, what hospital and all the motherly advice they can dish out!
I am more than excited about our son...but wish they would stay out!!
I told my boss around 14 weeks. I was totally freaked out, just like you. I also had no reason. My boss is amazing and really understanding, and I have a government job so I get tons of benefits. But i'm one of those that feels guilty for calling in sick even if I'm dying, so I was really having a panic attack over telling him.
It went fine though and he was really happy for me.
Tell him now, before you start to show. You don't want him finding out some other way, it should come from you.
