1st Trimester

Am I the only one not sleeping?

I've never been a super heavy sleeper, but now... Anything wakes me up and once I'm up, it takes hours to get back to sleep.  I feel like crying because I'm so incredibly tired but I just cannot seem to relax enough to knock out.  Anyone else having a similar experience?

Re: Am I the only one not sleeping?

  • I am doing the opposite. I have always been a light sleeper and now hardly anything wakes me up.  I feel for you because I know how tired I am feeling.

  • I never sleep!  I'm always hyped up on caffeine and aspartame!
  • People say that Tylenol PM helps and OB's allow it. Never tried though. I had a horrible fatigue during 1st trimester, so did not have that problem.  Wait until you'll be in the 3rd.

  • I actually slept almost nonstop weeks 5 and 6... There were a couple of days that I was probably conscious for oh, 4 hours or so out of 24.  I wish I was still there.  And as far as the 3rd trimester... I've already given my fiance fair warning that the recliner is mine Wink
  • I fall asleep early, but don't make it through the night.  My nausea causes me to wake up between 3 AM and 4AM; I get up, have some decaf tea and toast, and try to get my body squared away for the day.
  • i'm a pretty light sleeper. My husband can roll over and i wake up. Now i'm up ever few hours (this is one of those times now, its 4 am) and i have a bit of trouble getting back to sleep. Not HOURS, but its still inconvient when your facing a 10 hour shift.
  • When I was in 1st tri I would routinely wake up for a couple hours in the middle of the night.  It finally went away and is now back in 3rd tri.

  • insomnia is pretty common... and when I know I NEED to sleep, I can never go back to sleep!  I've had to rearrange my schedule so I do big things in the mornings because I drag all afternoon until I go home.  I've been going to sleep around 8, waking up at 1, try to go back to sleep but we get up at 4 (military).  I think it's how we prepare for a screaming baby :)

  • I used to be a very good and heavy sleeper. My family would actually make fun of the way I could sleep through anything. But now I wake up when the heat starts blowing or when my neighbors move too frequently around their home. And all the trips to the bathroom don't help either Sad
  • It's awful. I am awake every hour. I just can't seem to get into a rested sleep.

Plus I pee 7X which is ridiculous.

Oh and i have my toddler teething.Fun times.

Hoping it willpass, for all of us!!

  • Good luck ladies!  Here's to functioning-- resting properly and getting done what needs to get done.  Yes

I finally came down to the living room at around 4 this morning, put on a DVD and promptly fell asleep in FH's beloved and magical recliner.  He said he'd bring it up to the bedroom for me so I don't have to go from the third floor to the first every single night.  Apparently, he's not a fan of falling asleep together and waking up alone.  He's been great so far.  I feel pretty lucky despite the lack of sleep.

  • I was sleeping like a rock up until this weekm now every noise wakes me and I toss and turn all night

  • You are definitely not alone...I used to be able to sleep for 10 hours straight if I didn't set the alarm clock.  Now I'm lucky if I get in 3 without waking up and being up for hours.  Since I work at night, sometimes I will sleep a few hours in the morning when I get home, then a few more hours later in the afternoon/evening before I have to go to work.  I am getting so TIRED of it!
  • I had that last night too.  I am glad I finally worked my way through it.

  • You sound A LOT like me!  Sorry... no good help here cause I have been tossing and turning the past few days... can't get comfortable no matter which way I turn, waking up sweaty cause DH like it warm at night so we are fighting over the thermastats... I may have to use my one light comforter to get some rest... trying that tonight!

Yup and once I am up... it takes F.O.R.E.V.E.R to fall back asleep... it sucks cause DH is such a sound deep sleeper!
