I've always thought it was this definition...
Baby moon (ba'be moon): The period of time in a woman's life when mothering begins--after the birth of a baby when the new pair rest, relax, bond, and prepare for life together. Ancient customs from cultures around the world dictate that new mothers are to be cared for and nurtured during this important time of adjustment, in order to build a strong foundation of support for the vital work of mothering.
But I keep hearing and reading about it being a final getaway of sorts before the baby gets there.
What's your definition?
Re: What is your definition of a "Babymoon"?
I always thought it was a trip while pg. There was NOT a lot of resting or relaxing after the birth of DS!
We almost took a babymoon before DS but decided to get a flatscreen tv instead. I am so glad we made that decision!
DS 3.12.08
DD 7.11.09
DD 8.01.13
I never even heard the term "babymoon' until I joined these boards. However, i have only heard it being used in terms of going on a get away with your S/O before baby comes. Most happen some time in the 2nd tri and can be a far away trip or a close weekend get away.?
Dh and I took one when I was 24 weeks along. We went someplace that was pretty close by (only a 4 hour car ride) and stayed the weekend. We had a really relaxing time. Our hotel had a two person jacuzzi which ended each night just right.
