Okay, so I am 17 weeks pregnant and I still am not sure if what I feel is the baby or not. I am feeling kind of left out because I thought by this time it should be obvious to me if the baby is moving. Let me explain what I feel: it's like someone is poking me in the stomach and it usually is on the side or close to my pelvic bone and not in the middle. It's not a comfortable feeling. It kind of hurts/bothers me when it happens.
So could this be the baby?
I've read others saying it feels like bubbles, popcorn popping or a fish moving inside, but I don't get that feeling.
Re: Not sure if I feel the baby
Do you know if you have an anterior or posterior placenta? If you have an anterior placenta (placenta is in front of baby), the feelings may be different and you don't feel them as early. I didn't really feel DS until 23 weeks. It felt like a small spasm or twitch. Towards the end it was more like rolls.
I have felt pretty much everything so far, ranging from bubbles to twitching, to light jabs, to tightening, to feeling like my stomach is going to growl but it doesn't, to feeling like my stomach is doing flip flops like I'm riding on a tilt-a-whirl. I honestly have no idea which of it is the baby and which isn't, but I'm pretty sure at least some of it has to have been the baby. I got so worried about it I talked to my OB and he agreed that at least some of it must be the baby moving, and heard strong kicks when he listened to the baby with the doppler.
I also usually feel all those feelings more slightly to my left side. Occassionally I'll get some of it going on right in the center, and maybe like once or twice I've felt something on the right side. Also, driving in the car really seems to get all the feelings going...which is kinda weird.
awh... you will feel the baby soon. I didn't really feel the baby until about a good 20 weeks or even 21 weeks.
I couldn't tell right away either. I have a lot of poking in my pelvic area now...i guess it depends on where she is sitting at the moment...not all the time...I usually feel her on the side but today i have felt her way low in the pelvic area. but you have a lot of time!!! but if its hurting you you should just go get checked out to make sure. I have a lot of pressure down there and i actually went into the doctor to make sure everything was okay and everything was ....
The poking that's seems uncomfortable could also be round ligament pain associated with your growing uterus. I felt that a lot at 17 weeks (and still do). Here's a webmd article about it
I'm sure you'll feel movement soon. At first, I only felt it when I was sitting very still, but now I'm starting to notice it during the day when I'm doing things, too. It made it even cooler to see him on the ultrasound for the first time moving around and kicking - I even felt one while I saw it happen, crazy!
19 weeks is when I first felt the popcorn feeling. But before that I had something close to what you are feeling.?
?
Keep your head up! Things will feel different soon!?
DITTO!
