Did people not buy off your registry at your shower?

I know this is going to sound horrible. I have been snooping a little and looking to see what is being bought off my registry. My shower is tomorrow and hardly anything has been. I heard from one of my friends that a lot of people just bought random things instead of things off her registry. Is this common? It seems like it could be frustrating b/c you go through all that to register for the things you need and then people just buy whatever.

    I got a mix-some of the stuff I got was from the registry, some wasn't.  People like to buy clothes because they're cute.

    Sigh... Yes, it is very common. Some people don't know about the registry and some just wanna buy you what they would want... Be prepared for tons of cute onesies, shoes, dresses and random toys and books.

    That happened with me, but I LOVE everything people gave me. They were so thoughtful. Some people really think hard about the gifts and they don't want to give ordinary onesies or swings. Just be thankful for what you get, and I'm sure you will be.

    I got some stuff of my registry but then I got ALOT of clothes.  I don't need anymore clothes but oh well.  I have older aunts who don't believe in buying off of registries.  So I am going to try and return some of the outfits.

    I got a mix of stuff as well. Many times people do not buy until the day of and even then the stupid BRU and other type websites do not update right away. So people could be buying today but you dont know it since their updating system is slow. I also found that many people just did not get the stuff they bought checked off my registry so I ended up having to go and do that on my own.

    Very common.. hopefully you'll get stuff you didn't realize you needed or they give you gift receipts.

    I think it depends a bit on the crowd?  There are people coming to ours who I know don't ever buy from registries and others who always buy from the registry.  I totally understand your frustration.  I know everyone always says to be grateful for whatever, and I am sure that you are, but it would be nice to get the essentials you need too.

    I got lots of cute clothes and blankets at my shower, but not a lot off my registry. Don't lose hope though, some people may plan on getting your present tomorrow before the shower.

    We definitely got stuff that wasn't on our registry but I was quite pleased that we ended up with a lot of stuff from our registry (and only 1 double).

    I'm stalking my registry pretty hard and I'm finding that people are buying off of it.... but that doesn't mean that you won't get something super cool from those folks buying off registry. At my wedding some of the best gifts were from people who knew me super well and bought off-registry. Have hope!

    I know this is true, but I have never understood it.  I always want to buy someone something that I know they want/need!

    My shower is tomorrow too, a lot is gone from my registry, I'm so happy to have all of the big stuff taken care of.  I hope you get lots of useful things, hopefully tonight or tomorrow morning things will be purchased (I always buy gifts from registries the day of or the day before!)  Have fun at your shower!

    You might be surprised tomorrow at your shower, lots of people buy the night before or the day of. I did get clothes, bibs, blankets, and toys that I had not registered for. However, we still got most of the items on our registry.

    My first shower is Sunday and I've been snooping on my registry as well. lol!  I got 1 gift delivered this week and it was off my registry but it never got check off on the BRU website.  I had to go in and manually do it so I wouldn't end up with more than one.

    I have about 70 items on my registry and about 21 items are already purchased (I also have another shower in a few weeks).  I see we did get a lot of the big stuff so that is nice.

    We got a decent mix of registry and non-registry stuff. FYI: some people will wait to buy off your registry on the day of your shower. I snooped the night before and hardly anything was bought but we got several registry things at the shower. Sometimes the registries don't update, too. Or people look at the registry and buy the stuff elsewhere.

    At my SIL's shower many people bought things that were not on the registry, mostly clothes.
