Hey everyone, I guess I really need DH to bring me my "baby bargains" book. I'm sorry to keep bothering you about all of this. I need to get a carseat - the in laws bought us our travel system but I think that the best thing would be to leave it in Ohio and get something here since it's so big, etc. So I need to get an infant carseat to use for when baby comes. Any recommendations (personal or baby bargains, etc) for a relatively inexpensive infant carseat? Thank you!
One more question - do I really need a stroller for his first few weeks of life? If so, can I get away with a snap n go?
Re: Carseat help?
Baby Bargins recommends the Graco SafeSeat as one of the best infant carseats - it goes up to 30 pounds. However, it is bulky. We bought ours at BRU.
I would agree that you should just have your car seat from the travel system with you in Texas. If DH can bring it when he comes, or ship it to you, that way you'll have it for the trip back home after your little one is here (hopefully a long time from now!). The snap and go should be fine for what you will need it for in the beginning.
Good luck!

oh we used the snap n go for months before even using the reg stroller. so you can hold out on the stroller for a long time. if your baby is small and not heavy, then they will be in the infant car seat for a long time.
we have a graco one. loved it.
We have the Safeseat by Graco....ours went up to 30 lbs, I recommend the bigger ones, especially in the winter if you are packing them into the carseat with coats/jackets etc. The Snugride, however, comes strongly recommended, but if you are going to use it daily, get the Safeseat.
I used the snap n go up until she was 6 month, or when she had better trunk control.
