We want to do farm theme wall murals throughout the whole nursery with a cloud ceiling. I know that professional estimates will range between 2-4k - as much as we are completely going to spoil this baby, I'm not sure I can justify this.
I'm creative in theory but not in practice. I found on www [dot] mywonderfulwalls [dot] com wall mural stencils - I watched the how-to video ... I think DH might be able to do this lol
Has anyone else stenciled with acrylic paints? Any advice? Any tips?

Another option to look at is an art student at a local college. I had a mural done a couple years ago and just contacted the art dept. and asked if they could recommend someone.
A young lady who was wanting some pictures for her portfolio came out and did the entire room, including the ceiling for $200! The design was a garden room so there was a big apple tree in one corner and flowers and grass all along the edges with clouds on the top half of the walls and the ceiling... So it wasn't a very hard design, but it was a good sized room and probably took her 10 hours to do...
It was a *huge* win/win- we got a fabulous mural and she got portfolio pictures and some college money!
We did ours and I don't have an artistic bone in my body. I think there are some pics in my very outdated bio. We bought an overhead projector, and traced the animals from the bedding, then had them printed on transparancies. That way you can see exactly where you want to put it on the wall/size, etc... Then we traced them, which took about 5 minutes each, and then painted them in. It took a long time to paint, but it was very relaxing to me. Hope this helps!!

HI...I am a mural artist and I have never stenciled before....but I do 90% of my work with acrylic paint and i love it. It dries fast and it doesn't smell whereas oil takes sometimes a month to completely dry and the odor lingers around.
If you need any other help I will glad to help you out.
