Pennsylvania Babies

Thought I was in labor - guess not.

I woke up several times between 10:30pm and 2am with mild contractions.  Finally at 2am I decided to time them.  They were 10-12 min apart for about 10 hours today... very mild though.  They never became more intense.  Then after noon they stopped being consistent/regular.  I'm still having mild contractions every once in a while but it doesn't seem to be progressing.

I know this will happen soon but I'm a little bummed b/c I got excited thinking that it was going to be his birth day!

Anyone else have something like this happen?

Re: Thought I was in labor - guess not.

  • Oh...I'm sorry!  You know that I don't have any advice, but I am sure he's getting ready.  Thinking of you!

  • Hi Christina!  I didn't have that happen to me, but I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking about you.  I'm sure the contractions were telling you that things are starting to move forward.  Hang in there and take care, you're little boy will be here very soon!
  • I have a friend who is due on the 31st that is going through something similar.  She keeps telling me she thinks it's labor and then a few hours later she says no, I guess not!
  • That happen to me.  They were always during the day though.  For 3 days it went on like that...it was torture (not so much the pain, but the wondering if it was the real thing, and when it was going to happen).

My contractions started on a Wednesday (at work), got down to consistently 8 minutes apart that day... but stopped in the evening.  Then they started up again Thursday morning on the drive into work (not fun).  Got down to between 5-7 minutes apart by lunch time and more severe.  I had decided by the end of the work day that it was going to be my last.  Contractions stopped again that evening.  Picked up right where we left off at 5 minutes apart Friday morning.  Had a PT appt. in at the hospital that day, and the therapist told me I should just stay, but we went home.  By that evening, we had the car packed up and ready to go... but surprise surprise, they stopped again.

Saturday morning... nothing.  Decided I might as well take a bath.  About that time, it starts raining outside.  Done with the bath, and my water breaks (still no contractions though).  That was about 10am.  Got in the car about 30 minutes later, and called my parents to tell them we were dropping our dog off at their house (30 minutes away).  By the time we hit the highway (about 8 minutes later) the contractions started.... HARD.  Our little girl was born just after midnight then, Sunday morning.

I debated typing this, because I really hope it doesn't drag out that long for you... but yes, it does happen.  Good luck, I hope your big day is very very soon!!

  • I don't have any advice - my water broke and I never really did have regular contractions.  I had to be given Pitocin to move things along.

I hope it happens soon for you!

    Good luck!

  • Sounds like things are moving right along!  I was crampy the day before my water broke, but it was nothing I could time like you.

Hopefully, things will pick up soon.  Best of luck for a smooth delivery!  Thinking of you!

  • Thank you for your thoughts.  I've heard from others that this can go on for a week or so.  Ugh, I hope not!  I've had cramps on and off for weeks but they're much worse now along with the now random contractions.  I hope that means progress.  I'm ready to stop working but don't want to start maternity leave too early.
