Success after IF

Does anyone do at home parties?

I'm really loving this SAHM thing. Like REALLY  loving it.  Too much.

I was opposed to doing at home parties previously but now I'm thinking maybe I could do it. Does anyone else do them.

What product(s) do you sell? Any hints tips?

I'm just in the "thinking about it" stages right now...

  • I do!  I sell Scentsy on top of my full time job.  I started doing it to help pay for our IVF.  It's soooo easy and the product is totally addicting.  It's wickless, sootless candles.  They smell amazing and are really attractive.  My business has taken off and I have only done a few parties.  I get a lot of business from referrals and repeat customers.  In case you're interested in learning more about Scentsy, you can check out my website.  It has definitely helped in providing some extra income.

  • I'm just not that type of girl... I hate bugging people, hate making them feel like they HAVE to buy something... but that's just me.

A thought... the small company I used to work for, that I would bug you alot about, had a need for an HR person, but not FT. kinda of an on-call basis freelancer. I can see you setting up something like that... where you are signed with a bunch of small companies, have a 'menu" of services and their contract states what they get, etc. and the fees assigned to them.

Maybe something like this is already in place, (I know of a bigger company that does this, I'll give you  the name if you want, they have a nice website)  but I'm just thinking out loud. You can put together a flyer stating the simple items you would offer, and then custom build as needed.

Once you get in with a few companies, word of mouth could well grow your company, and you could pick and choose who you service and how much.

Not sure if residential care homes are popping up in your area yet, but that was the "market" I was in, and I can think about about 5 companies like ours that could use services like this, without having the financial burden of someone on their own payroll.

    just a thought... ;-)

  • Honestly, most of the people I know who start this usually putter out after they exhaust their circle of friends and relatives.  But if you're committed to making it work, you can totally make money and your own schedule.  My personal favorite (and the only ones I'll go to) is Pampered Chef.  I love to cook and the products are really high quality and useful.  So I never feel like I've been suckered into buying something I don't need and won't ever use.  Just my $0.02.
  • a friend of mine from highschool ?started selling Shaklee(green ) products on the side and after a few months she was able to give up a full time job as insurance adjuster to stay homewith her two kids!

  • A friend of mine just had her second baby and decided to stay home. She watches one little girl 3 days a week at her house to make some extra money. But also sells Lia Sophia (jewelery). The initial investment was small, and there was a great support system for learning. She had parties with all of her friends and family, and was able to get more parties from those parties. She also goes to craft shows and sets up a table there. Sometimes she doesnt get any parties but other times she will get 3 or 4. I think she also put something up in a few beauty salons. I think she makes decent money doing it...but it is variable. Some weeks she has no parties and others she will have 3.
  • I sold Mary Kay for years and made a ton. You make what you put into it.

  • I've been an Arbonne (botanically based skincare, health, and wellness product for the whole family) for about 2 years.  It's been a lot of fun, I've made lots of new friends, and have made good money with it.  I do a combination of in-home parties and coffee/lunch appts.  Like pp said, you get out what you put into any business including an in-home business.  I'm on the way to retiring from my full-time business, real estate, to only doing Arbonne. If you're curious, please check out www.arbonne.com or you can email me at getresults dot kristen at gmail dot com.  HTH!
