Favorite/best shoes for a walker?

My DS desperately needs a good pair of shoes.  He has small feet and is now walking. Any recommendations?  He doesn't like to wear socks or shoes.  And needs something that he could wear outside.  Thanks!

  • I like Pedi Peds. They have cute styles for boys and girls. The soft sole is supposed to be good for beginner walkers.

  • Stride Rites -- tennis shoes with the flex sole designed for early walkers.  DD was the same way about socks and shoes and we took her to both the Stride Rite store and Nordstrom's and it was the pair at Nordstrom's she really seemed to like because she proceeded to get up and start pushing her stroller everywhere versus looking kind of timid and cautious about moving in the others.

  • ditto on the stride rites!  worth the cost!
  • Stride Rite, DS has wide feet so they work perfectly. They have factory outlet stores as well.

  • DD wears Pedipeds.  We love them.
  • Stride Rite can measure, fit and get you the appropriate stage shoes for the type of walker DC is.
  • My DS is the same. Everytime i put his shoes one, he always try to take them off. Socks are ok, shoes is something else. Pedipeds are the only ones that stay on. Stride rides are also good for early walkers.
  • I agree that Stride Rites are worth it for the first walking shoes. Their "early walkers" are made for beginners and are designed to mimic barefoot walking just like pedipeds and Robeez.

DD stopped wearing the original pedipeds once she started walking since the leather soles were too slippery. The Stride Rites have rubber soles.

    I ditto everything KristinKD said.
