Pitfalls of working from home...with kids

So, picture this...I'm on a conference call with top people (with no kids I imagine) I'm talking about super important data..yada yada

In runs my 7yr old DS, screaming that his sister kicked him off his skateboard...so I scramble for the mute button, check for blood or bones, see none and then dash to the bathroom with my laptop and phone and shut/lock the door

Then I have both of them outside the door blaming each other for whatever happened, so I get in the shower area and close the shower door and pray the others on the phone can't hear the ruckus

Ahhh good times :-)

  • Oh, such a great opportunity, but I can see the challenges!

  • OMG, that was hysterical!  I'm picturing it now.  Thanks for sharing, I've been in such a crappy mood all day and your story put a smile on my face Big Smile
  • Don't get me wrong, its a super-sweet gig. I get to pick kids up from school every day, make appts etc. BUT when they are around in the afternoon and summers, it can get really hairy. I just love when I hear someone else's kids or dogs in the background on a call, it makes me feel so much better!!

  • It's very likely that the top people on the phone either have kids or nieces/nephews, and they probably know you're working from home.  Don't worry, they'll understand.

LOL, exactly! It cracks me up when I picture you with the phone and laptop, standing in your shower.
