Don't threaten me with French!  Pas de francais!

Je le parle couramment (ou je l'ai parle couramment quand j'etais au college et universite).

It's rusty now, but I bet I could still tell what you're saying lol.

  • okay, okay. But I'm not really Canadian though. I don't get to apply for my citizenship until later this year. Although after 8 years of living here, I do say eh occasionally.

do you think you'll ever leave Canada?

  • Nah, we like it here. And my Canadian H said it would be a cold day in he!! (or a warm day in Nunavut) before we moved south. I had to go through so much just to get my permanent residency here (and it's pricey), and I don't want to have to deal with that for my H going the opposite way. Plus the benefits are so much better here- a year paid mat leave, free health insurance even if we lose our jobs (even if it means I have to wait forever for an appt, and don't have a GP), cheaper universities. We're moving back to Ontario later this year which is where my ILs are and I love it there. I think I'm in Canada for life. But we'll probably get dual citizenship for our kid(s).

  • Sounds like a good plan -- we're where we are for life too, but without the citizenship drama.  It's nice to be fairly settled in, eh.
