end of an era

DH is in a business that has changed dramatically in this area in the past few years.  This one part of the business was the biggest thing around this area for over a century really.  His great-grandfather started their family business here over a hundred years ago.

Well, today, he sold his biggest pieces of equipment used solely in that part of the business, thus indicating that he will no longer be doing the thing that all 4 generations of his family before him have done.  He's still in the general field, of course, but this is a major major change.  The actual change was made in a practical sense in 2007, but selling this equipment shouts loud and clear that the era is over.

It's a little sad really, but at least now his dad can't bug him about doing just "a little bit" of the old thing.  We've really moved on.  Times are a'changin'.

And yes, I know this is a cryptic post, but I think some people are lurking here now, so I'm trying to be more subtle about my identity.  :::shifty eyes b/c of lurkers:::
