We are doing major layoffs today with more to come over the next 18 months. DH & I both work for the same company, so it's absolutely terrifying. . .
I'm normally pretty good at handling stress, but today is over the top. I manage a team of people who are completely freaked out about their jobs. I'm freaked out. Their is no good information. DH is freaked. Good times.
Re: Seeing people get laid off is so stressful
We haven't started laying off actual employees here... just contractors. And that alone is stressful enough. It's hard to watch them cut our budgets, cancel projects, etc.
I just say a little prayer each night and hope that we make it thru this without losing our jobs.
I know! I feel just terrible for those who have lost their jobs! What are they going to do? How will they survive? Everytime I read about abother company doing layoffs I want to cry.
I thank God every day that DH and I have a job. Mine is somewhat stable and DH's is rock solid. I pray for this economy to turn around quickly.
Liam is 5!
I know - it's crazy. And with the size of the layoffs, people are going to really struggle to find something else. It's terrible.
Please tell me to unchain myself from the trail mix that I've been eating all day from stress. It's probably time to move on to booze. . .
Yes it is! I watched 10 of my coworkers lose their jobs in one day right before Thanksgiving. I thought for sure I was next. I've made it past the New Year!
I just have my fingers crossed and I am kissing as much butt as I can to keep this job. I know they will probably do more lay-offs at the end of the 1st quarter...eek.
God, they have to prolong it for 18 months??? That is insane! Talk about pulling the band-aid off as slowly as possible.
I hope you and your H can get through this as calmly as possible. Is either one of you able to start looking for a job at another company JIC? You know, diversify a little? It's never a bad idea to have your resume ready and be proactive, even if it feels a little strange.
Best of luck to you guys.
