Snarky and T-TTC

Back home from lap.

I had endo everywhere, including attached to my tubes. I also had a huge cyst attached to one of my ovarys. He said that my tubes are lousy, but open. There isnt a 0 percent chance of getting pregnant on our own, but it is very low. In vitro will probably be the best option for us, of which we have no money for. Im upset right now and feeling very guilty for being the problem.

Re: Back home from lap.

  • were they able to clean out the endo when they were in there?  i'm sorry it seems like bad news today.  maybe a second opinion or some iui rounds? i hope you're feeling okay--get some rest!

I'm so, so sorry. Were they able to remove any of the endo?

I know what you mean about feeling guilty, but try your best not to. You and your DH are in it together.

  • They were able to remove all of the endo, adhesions, and the cyst. Im totally cleaned out. I dont know if he means my tubes are lousy because of all the damage they sustained from him having to repair them.

  • Look on the bright side, you are now clean of all the endo and if your tubes are still functional IUI may work. At least now you know and can plan accordingly.

I am glad they were able to do that for you.  Who Knows - I'd think there is still hope.  Hang in there!

  • it's good they got it all out.  everyone says the next few cycles will be more "fertile" or something like that.  i would really investigate some iui cycles.

I ditto this advice. Might as well make the most of the post lap if you can.

  • Im going to meet with him in two weeks. I know he wont mind us trying that at first since he was able to clean me out. Im trying not to be too sad about it and have some hope instead.

First, I'm sorry to hear that.  But I'm glad you're meeting with him again.  Post-op is not an ideal place to discuss your options going forward.  I hope you can come up wtih a plan!

  • I'm sorry :(  {{HUGS}}

I know how you feel about feeling guilty about being the problem. I go through my good days and bad. Hopefully having the endo cleared out will be all you need.

  • Glad to hear it went well. How's your insurance for IUIs? Covered? What could it hurt to try a couple?

  • (((HUGS)) I'm sorry it wasn't better news, but at least they were able to clean it all out. And don't feel guilty - it's not like you did it on purpose! Have hope - you can always do a couple IUI's and then move to IVF when you're ready.
  • I'm sorry you didn't get better news.  That's good they were able to get all the endo out and take care of the cyst they found too.  I hope you have a quick recovery and good luck in deciding what to do next.  *Hugs*

  • Insurance covers nothing so thats what makes me wonder if we should save for ivf instead or try 2 iui's first. I really don't know what to do. DH is supportive of whatever w prefer.

  • I'm sorry you the news you did. As someone mentioned, post-op isn't good for coming up with a gameplan.

Give yourself some time to let everything sink in and go in for a 2nd opinion when you've properly healed and the right answer will likely present itself.

Until then, take good care of yourself. No feeling guilty!

That is such a difficult decision.

Right now, we've decided that we'll be moving on to IVF if this IUI doesn't work (I have tubal issues also). Our reasoning is that there are better odds of success and it just makes sense for us. I don't know if your state has mandated IF coverage or not, but maybe you can check? Of if anyone has discount meds?

I'm really sorry you're going through this.

  • i'm glad they could clean you out! i hope you get some positive IUI news in 2 weeks!
  • (((hugs)))  good luck with whatever you decide to be your next step.  at least you got some answers.
