DS has, in my opinion, has a fairly severe tongue tie. Since it is not medically necessary to clip it, our pedi's office would not refer us to an ENT.
In December DS and I were in a store and he began to sob

When I looked in his mouth he was bleeding from his frenulum. Needless to say, because of that incident we got the referral.
In any event, we need to schedule a consult and get it clipped. My question is how do they do it and what is recovery like? I want to do it sooner than later because I feel like the younger he is the better. I am worried because now he is more active than a few months ago. TIA
Re: ? About Tongue Tie Clipping
I actually had mine clipped when I was 12. It's still the only stitches I've ever had.
From that point of view: It took about a week to talk coherently, etc. However, I had it done on like a thurs and was back in school by monday. It didn't really hurt to much, more so it was annoying, and I couldn't eat what I wanted to. I believe the stitches were dissolving by two weeks.
I would think, as baby who is not talking and moving around so much, everything would be less. less pain, less recovery, etc.
Mine was also probably not quite as severe as your DS, since it wasn't done when I was little.

Gabriella had is when she was born. Our pedi sent an ENT to the nursery and our hospital room to do it while I was recovering from my c-section. It was very simple and there was no recovery period at all.
I would not wait. The early the better.
