I was recently there at the end of December for a friend that had a hysterectomy. She was on the labor and delivery floor. I was not impressed to say the least. There was paint chipping off the walls and bugs crawling in the bathroom. The nursing staff was very nice though. Since the takeover some improvements have been done to the lobby and waiting areas, which are beautiful, but the rooms are horrible IMO.

I have known people that were in the cardiac unit there and it was beautiful. Changes are slow in that hospital but, the staff is really good and attentive. I have to go to Christ in Oak Lawn and am not looking forward to that. They are kind in the same boat...good staff icky facility. My first choice was Palos (where I had my first son) but, they don't work with my HMO. After doing alot of research, it's better to go where the staff is good and knowledgeble than to worry about the ambiance.
