I'm 4dpiu and this is my 2nd round of injectables and 4th iu and I guess I'm so afraid of being so hopeful to only be let down so I am "preparing" myself for the worst if that should happen.
Just curious if you girls thought it was a bust when it was something much more!!
Re: Did you prepare yourself for the worst before you got your BFP?
Completely. I had some spotting, and with non-BFP cycles that was the norm, so I had a complete meltdown two nights before, because we were going to have to stop treatment (b/c of $$). When AF didn't show, I took a digital test and stood at the sink while it processed, repeating "Not pregnant, not pregnant, not pregnant" to myself so I wouldn't be (more) disappointed. I almost didn't believe the "Pregnant" that popped up!
With IVF #1 I got AF 4 days before my beta so yes when I was close to my beta for IVF #2 I automatically assumed I would be getting another BFN.
Imagine my surprise when I got the faintest BFP on a HPT I still didn't believe even after my positive beta, I kept thinking I would wake up and it would all be a dream!
Dear Lord yes. I was on IVF #4 and will all of the negatives under my belt and no symptoms, I was just sure it would be negative. I held out for the beta and was happily surprised. It's so hard to have hope when you have had failures and BFNs.
Hang in there, I sincerely hope you get good news soon.
I always prepared for bad news and it drove dh nuts! But I had to mentally be ready for it in order to deal with it. For this successful IVF cycle, I had completely convinced myself it hadn't worked (I never took any hpts). I had even practiced what I would say when they called!
Well, I let the call go into vm so I could listen to it at home (I had gotten a bfn call at work before and had a total meltdown so I wasn't going that route again) I stopped at the store and bought a bottle of wine and pack of cigarettes because I was sure it was going to be a BFN. I actually had to listen to the voice mail twice because I thought I had just imagined she said I was "pregnant" .....so yes, I *tried* to prepare myself for the worst (though I think I would have needed more than wine and cigarettes to conquer the hurt if it was negative) and I got the best!
Good luck!!
GL ... let us know how it goes!
I guess I was in the minority here. I tried my hardest to keep a positive attitude during all of my cycles - I don't think you have anything to gain by "assuming the worse". Just my opinion!
Good luck!
I didn't so much prepare as I was just 100% sure it hadn't worked. I just wanted to get my beta out of the way so I could proceed with IVF (BFP was from IUI#3). I didn't do a home test, so when the nurse called me with my result my response was "WHAT? You're joking."
Good luck-- I hope this is your cycle.
