1st Trimester

Positive test yesterday...negative today.

Hi..very very new to all of this. Went off the pill in August and haven't really been trying but have just been hoping to get my cycle back to normal as between pills and running lots was way out of wack. So I had not expected to be pregnant this month but early this week I noticed extreme tenderness in my bbs and they almost feel like they are getting bigger (only easy to notice as they are usually non existent :). If my cycle is normal now - still not sure - it is still a few days before my period - but on a whim yesterday I took a test - it happened to be a digital one (free sample in a regular pack - caught me by surprise actually) and it was positive but then today took a regular one and was negative followed by another digital one which was also negative. Any thoughts? Very confused and anxious at this point...aggh.

Re: Positive test yesterday...negative today.

  • did you test with your first morning urine today? usually your urine is less diluted when you use your first morning urine. or the test you used yesterday was more sensitive than today's test.

or that test was a false positve.

    good luck!?

  • It is very very rare to have a false positive. I agree with pp- do another one with your first morning urine.
  • Usually AHPT do not show false positives only false negatives...The hormone has to be there in your urine to be postive! I know that makes you so anxious!

  • The pp is right. HPTs rarely give false positives but you could have experienced a very early miscarriage or chemical pregnancy. I would try another digital with first morning urine.

  • Thanks...from what I'm reading looks like that very well may be the case - sadly. Especially as definitely did not realize how excited we really are about having a baby until the test said positive. Aghhh. Will just have to be patient and see (if only that was as easy said as done!) Will try another digital test first thing in the morning later this week. Fingers crossed...
