I've heard a lot of people say menstrual cramps but worse and you feel them throughout your belly and back.

My BH are like warm charley horses in my belly, I don't know if that's any indication of how my contractions will feel.

The charley horse thing that Jessimurph described is how my childbirth instructor described them.

I have been having some contractions, and they are menstrual cramps with tightening around my lower belly and lower back.

i've just started haveing some cramping this week that feels like menstral cramps, don't know if its BH but it sure doesn't make me look forward to having a period again!

I'd say i'm really in-tune w/ my body and for me early contractions were hard to tell. It wasnt rhythmic at all...it was like hours of not feeling well and just your whole trunk aches and you feel like you are getting your period. Once my water broke and I went to the hospital and got hooked up to the monitor thing I could see when the #'s went up things got a little more intense, then less. Then when the major timeable contractions hit I didnt need to look at the monitor, just moaned and grabbed DH as hard as i could.

My contractions didn't hurt at all. I just felt a steady tightening that went from every 10 minutes to every 5 minutes. I never had a bit of pain, so I thought I was having BH, but the nurse told me to go to L & D. I really thought I'd be sent home, seeing how I wasn't in any pain, so it was totally surreal when I was told I was being admitted and would be having a baby that day.
