my pedi said they should be weaned by 18 months. Right now DS is only getting 3 bottles per day and the rest in sippys. He is also at daycare during the day so they could be pouring the bottles into a sippy there too. I'm surprised at how well he takes to a cup over a bottle.
Around 11 months she moved up to the Toddler room at daycare. So they started giving her formula in a sippy during the day. She was still getting a bottle in the morning and at night at the house. Right around her 1st birthday - when we transitioned to milk - we replaced her morning bottle at home with a sippy but kept the bedtime bottle. She had her last bottle on 1/2/09 (right around 13 months).
Hayden has 3 bottles a day for the most party. We are just starting sippy cups at daycare today! She is the youngest in the class, and she is always looking at the others with thier sippy cups. I decided to take her new birthday "Hayden" sippy to school today. She loves that cup! LOL! Hopefully it won't take to long. I'm using the Dr. Brown's bottles, and I can't stand washing those things. So, the sooner the better if you ask me. lol! She just turned 1, so I think we are right on track. Hopefully....lol!
the day after DS turned 1. It took 2 weeks. We started with one feeding then two and by the start of week two it was only at night. Then just the sippy. He cried and fussed a bit at first but we never gave in and by the second week only sippy
Up until a week ago DD was getting one bottle a day. Now she's getting a sippy of formula. I tried to switch her to a sippy of milk but she wouldn't have it and screamed for her formula.
My older DD was off botles/formula at 11 months and I am on the same plan for my 10 month old. She is down to 3-4 bottles a day. When I finished the can of formula I just opened, we will switch her to whole milk and sippy cups cold turkey. Daycare may still offer her bottles of formula until she is 1 per policy but they will also give her whole milk with her meals.
