don't people who have trees in their front yard rake the leaves? Seriously, it's winter and their yard looks like crap now and will look much worse in the spring cause all the grass will be dead.
I grew up in a house of non-rakers and we continue that practice to this day.
The reason for our sloth? We had/have so many trees that it's impossible to get rid of all the leaves. They just keep coming back. Plus, 2 acres is a lot to rake.
We're not total losses though; we do rake or blow them off the driveway and flowerbeds.

Staycee - that's what we do. We have one tree and the wind blows the leaves next door.
MrsO - 2 acres is a lot of leaves.
The houses I'm talking about have maybe .08 acres of land (if that much). All the houses look the same and they are very close to each other. There's no excuse except laziness
I come from a family that did not believe in raking leaves - let nature do it's thing. I married a much more responsible fellow and our yard is always appropriately neat.

Our beautiful daughter was born in October 2009. Turns out she was quite the miracle. After two years of TTC, diagnosed with DOR. A couple of failed treatment cycles later, we decided to let go of our hope for more biological children and explore adoption.
I have no grass, so leaves don't kill anything. One of these days I will plant some shade friendly grass, then I might care about the leaves. We had our trees pruned a few years ago, so the leave situation is MUCH better than it was.
Re: Why in the world
out here we are known to get strong winds for a few days at a time periodically in "winter" (If you call 80+ degrees winter).
this blows the leaves away to the tree-less neighbors to deal with. Fun.
